Post-op Instructions
CRNF
1. Do not stay alone the day of surgery. May be back to normal activities the following day, except for contact sports.
2. You will have to splint your nose. It must not be removed until return visit.
3. Things to Avoid:
1. Do not use aspirin products.
2. Sneeze only with your mouth open widely.
3. Do not lift objects over 5 pounds.
4. No contact sports
4. Things to Expect
1. Small amounts bright red bleeding though the first week.
2. Swelling or discoloration.
5. Keep your head elevated on 3 pillows to decrease swelling and allow better drainage.
6. Call your doctor immediately
1. Bright red bleeding for more than 10 minutes or heavy bleeding.
2. Fever over 101 degrees, neck stiffness, or unrelieved headaches.
3. Vision problems such as loss of vision, black eyes, or bulging of eyes.
4. Vomiting lasting longer than 24 hours.
7. No driving until instructed by physician.
8. If you have not urinated in 8 hours after arriving home, contact your physician.
9. Regular diet as tolerated.
If you should experience difficulty in breathing, bleeding that you feel is excessive, persistent nausea or vomiting, any pain that is unusual, swelling or fever, please call your physician. If you find that you cannot contact your physician, but you feel that your signs and symptoms warrant a physician’s attention, go to the nearest Emergency Room.
