Post-op Instructions
Sling
1. Your doctor has ordered a sling to support your arm following surgery.
2. Wear sling while up and about. May elevate on 2 pillows while resting in chair or bed.
3. Keep arm positioned with hand above level of elbow while wearing sling.
4. If any tingling, numbness, discoloration or swelling occurs in affected limb, immediately call physician.
5. Do not put sling in tumble dryer. It will shrink. May wash often in cold water.
6. For any problems or concerns, contact your physician.
POSTOPERATIVE TELEPHONE CALL: A representative from the Surgery Center will be calling you by telephone after surgery. Do not be alarmed. This is a routine call to find out how you are progressing after your surgery.
If you find that you can not contact your physician, but you feel that your signs and symptoms warrant a physician’s attention, go to an Emergency Room which is closest to you.
