Post-op Instructions
Endoscopy Outpatient
1. Follow the instructions Below:
Post Procedure

a. It is not uncommon to experience localized irritation of the vein at the medication site: warm moist packs (a warm wash cloth) over the site can help reduce pain and irritation. We advise this every 2 hours through out the remainder of the day, while awake. Notify your physician if the area continues to be painful or becomes red and hot to the touch.
b. Gargle with warm salt water or use throat lozenges for sore throat.
c. A feeling of fullness or cramping from air remaining in the bowel is normal. Mild activity will help expel the air.
d. No heavy lifting, straining or exercising for the next 24 hours.
2. Call Physician's office to :
a. Obtain results of the procedure/biopsy. (3 business days)
2. Diet:
a. Physician will instruct.
3. Medication :
a. Continue same medication schedule as before unless otherwise instructed by physician.
If you find that you can not contact your physician, but you feel that your signs and symptoms warrant a physician’s attention, go to an Emergency Room which is closest to you.
