Post-op Instructions
Hysteroscopic Procedure
1. When you get home from the Surgery Center you should go straight to bed and remain there until the next morning.
2. You may eat and drink anything you wish, assuming you are not having any nausea.
3. You may eat and drink anything you wish, assuming you are not having any nausea.
4. If you have any fever > 101, any severe pain, or severe nausea and vomiting, contact your physician immediately.
5. You may resume all normal activities the day after surgery.
6. You may experience some light bleeding or brown discharge for a few days – this is normal.
7. Be sure to keep your follow-up appointment as scheduled.
8. If you had an endometrial ablation, in addition to the above:
1. Be sure to take your Toradol (prescription) as directed.
2. Beginning in about day three, you should experience the onset of a rather profuse, watery discharge which may be clear, cloudy or slightly blood-tinged, but will have no significant odor.
3. This discharge should continue for 7 -10 days and then resolve.
If you find that you cannot contact you physician, but you feel that your signs and symptoms warrant a physician’s attention, go to an Emergency Room which is closest to you.
POSOPERATIVE TELEPHONE CALL: A representative from the Surgery Center may call you by telephone a few days after surgery. Do not be alarmed. This is a routine call to find out how you are progressing after your surgery.
