Post-op Instructions
Dexamethasone Injection
1. Rest at home for the 1st 24 hours.
2. Do not return to work until released by physician.
3. Keep your head tilted to the right/left side. If you have a cotton ball in your ear it may be removed at any time.
4. May return to pre-surgery diet (note anesthesia precautions).
5. No driving until instructed by physician.
6. If you have not urinated in eight hours after arriving home; contact your physician.
7. Contact your physician immediately if:
a. Temperature above 101 degrees.
b. Nausea and vomiting last more than 24 hours.
c. Dizziness.
d. Excessive drainage to ear or incisions. (Slow general oozing that saturates the dressing completely or frank bright red bleeding)
If you should experience difficulty in breathing, bleeding that you feel is excessive, persistent nausea or vomiting, any pain that is unusual, swelling or fever, please call your physician. If you find that you cannot contact your physician, but you feel your signs and symptoms warrant a physician’s attention, go to the nearest Emergency Room.
